Temporary Steelwork
To provide temporary steel structures for a Barge Loading facility to serve the Thames Tideway tunnels project.
We supplied and erected 450 tonnes of steel structures, including; Jetty Support Beams, Fender Pile Hats, Catwalks, Segment Barge Guides and Faceted Sector Beams Units. The Sector Beam Units were originally designed as a 91.5 tonne fully welded structure, necessitating around 4 weeks of site welding works, much of which would be at height over water. We redesigned the structure to replace a number of key welded connections with bolted connections, in doing so we managed to reduce the safety critical working over water from 4 weeks down to 2 days.
